Patrick Mahomes hasn’t wasted any time getting down to work with new Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Hollywood Brown.

Less than a week after Brown signed a one-year contract worth $11 million, Mahomes is already working out with the playmaking wide receiver as well as breakout pass-catcher Rashee Rice.

Hollywood Brown joins a loaded and explosive Kansas City Chiefs offense that sputtered at times last season as wide receivers dropped a league-high 41 passes.

But, Brown’s explosiveness could make him an ideal fit to elevate the Chiefs’ offense in a receiving corps that already includes Rice and All-Pro tight end Travis Kelce.

Playing on what is essentially a ‘prove it’ contract with an MVP quarterback, Brown is in a lot of ways betting on himself in 2024.

“That’s probably what I’m excited about the most being here is to just put my best foot forward and show what I could do,” Brown told reporters. “I feel like I’ll be able to showcase my skill set.

“I feel like I can affect all three levels of the game — short, intermediate, and deep. I feel like [at] times in Baltimore and in Arizona I showed facets of things that I could do but not on a consistent basis. So I feel here guys are interchangeable. We can complement each other and that way the best can come out of everyone.”

Brown has high expectations for playing in an offense with Mahomes.

After catching 51 passes for 574 yards and four touchdowns while averaging 3.3 yards after contact per reception, Brown in Mahomes’ supporting cast has the potential to bring out the best in both.

“You want to play with somebody that’s going to bring the best out of you, that’s going to push your game to the next level,” Brown told reporters. “And I feel like he’s definitely one of those type of guys.

“The arm talent, the deep arm talent, it speaks for itself. What can’t he do? He can extend plays, whatever he’s got to do to win the game. I feel like I watched him do it from making those big plays to methodically moving down the field to using his feet to playing injured. Those are qualities and traits of a guy you want to play for.”
